BILLY RAY CYRUS'
MACY THANKSGIVING FLOAT ROLLING TRIBUTE

When Billy Ray Cyrus was in New York City to ride the U.S. Mint Float in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade and appear on the O'Reilly Factor and "Today Show," he made one more stop that touched his soul. Cyrus visited the Fire House of Ladder Co. 101/Engine Co. 202 in the Red Hook section of Brooklyn, a company that lost 7 members in the Trade Center disaster.

"Words cannot describe the emotion I experienced in meeting with such courageous men and the brave widows and children of these fallen heroes. I feel the entire crew and I are now friends for life and hope they feel the same. This visit has really put things into perspective and it is something I will never forget."

When Cyrus saw that the coats of the seven lost firemen were hung in the firehouse in a place of honor, he arranged to have them displayed on the side of his float during the parade. Firemen from the Firehouse also joined him on the float.

While at the station house, Cyrus joined the firefighters for dinner and actually rode with them on a real fire call on the ladder truck. He also performed an acoustic version of "Some Gave All" for the men along with two widows and children of the seven men of the fire-company who died during the September 11 attacks.
